Game Design part
Before starting to work on this prototype, we choose the theme on what we will do our game. We started the project at the beginning of February, so the theme was The Valentine's day in Paris (the city of love). But we decide to make the total opposite. The player will control a teenager who break the heart from a lot of girl and he doesn't care. After choose the theme we made some quick and basic mechanics from a runner.
The mechanics
Bonuses
Platforms who can be obstacle
Maluses
Obstacle
After the creation of the different mechanics, we created the different metrics to respect the distance for the jump and the distance between two objects.
My intentions
-
Create a runner with an End to avoid to make like almost all the runner game. It's rarer to see a runner with an end.
-
Not create a frustrating runner
My map
And I directly start the 2D level Design on Visio.
I worked in parallel with the Game artist to see how we will work on the look of the platform and the decor of the map. And the DA had a good idea to show the different platform.
The idea was to put an electric pole for the platform and obstacles in the street to play with the light and to highlight the balconies where the character can walk
After that I put all the GA assets in the software and I passed everything to the programmer who put the script/colliders on the assets
